Country Music Muster, White Cliffs Town Tour, and more

Good morning all,

Definitely going to need the ‘woollies’ this week, they’re even talking “minus” degrees. No snow on the roads though in our neck of the woods.

There’s a bit going on in the next few weeks it seems. Peter and Patsy are starting the ball rolling at the Silverton Pub with a “Country Music Muster” next Sunday. Then stick round the Silver City as “The Sapphires” are featured at the Civic Centre a few days later on the 4th.

Take in a few sites of the Hill then, (see Patrick and the gang at the VIC.) and that will lead to Steve Eales performing at the Silverton Pub on the 8th. that leads straight into the famous “Broken Heel Festival”. That’s on from the 13th. to 15th. And thrown in the middle is the Broken Hill Show on the 14th. It’s all happening over there, and wait there’s more! Lee Kernighan is presenting his new album at the Civic Centre on the 22nd. We haven’t heard of Lee for a while so it should be good.

Cobar Picnic Races, “Festival of a Thousand Stories”, and more

Good morning all,

Just can’t pick our weather. Look out for wet roads, look out for rough roads, now it’s back to “careful in the dust”, once again.

Let’s get down to travelling, the Cobar Picnic Races combine with the Wentworth Show as the feature events for next week end. You will be welcome at both.

Now the next weekend, Peter and Patsy at the Silverton Pub have the Country Music Muster on the Sunday, then Steve Eales on stage the following Sunday the 8th. And the wind up day of the Broken Heel Festival” on Sunday 15th.Now the Flyer is attached so get ready to head out to that neck of the woods for a couple of weeks of fun. If you’re not sure what’s on, just drop in to the Broken Hill Visitors Centre, Patrick and the gang there will have you organised in a flash. You’ll have time to do a trip or two with Cindy at “Out of the Ordinary Outback”, drop in and see her.

That puts us close to the October long week end.

There’s a massive full week end at Tibooburra. You’ll have a ball up there for their Gymkhana and Rodeo, as well as heaps of other things to do.

Wilcannia's refurbished restaurant, Wentworth Show, and more

Good morning all,

We won’t mention the weather and it might go away! I don’t think anyone is spared at the moment, just some colder than others.

What a great weekend at Louth, people from all over as is always the case.

Next weekend it’s off to White Cliffs. A full weekend up there with the “Gem Festival” over 3 days, but you’ll need more time than that! Book into the caravan park and let Rob look after you and be sure to go on a tour of the town and surrounds with him and you’ll learn heaps. I was up there on Saturday and had a really great tour round.

Now the next weekend is the Wentworth Show. Why not come down from White  Cliffs, stay a day or 2 in Wilcannia, take in our refurbished chinese restaurant at the Golf Club, poke on down to Greg and Lily at “Neila Gaari”, stay the night maybe. On down to Menindee, a beer at “Maidens”, on to Pooncarie and land at Wentworth just as the Wentworth Show starts, 24th/ 25th..

You’ll have to call on the Visitor  Centre “gang” in Wentworth and they’ll keep you busy for the week.

If of course you go east from White Cliffs, still have a day in Wilcannia, poke on to Cobar, with a coffee and a break with Virginia at “Emmdale” and check out Cobar, up to Bourke and do a relaxing River Cruise, there’s really no end to what you can do.

Looking on down the track, we can offer you the “Broken Heel Festival” on the 13th. to 15th. of September and of course a host of other attractions whilst you’re in “The Hill”. Can I also suggest you call out to the Royal Flying Doctor Base and see for yourself what a wonderful medical service we of the outback are blessed with. It is second to none.

Further down the line is the Tibooburra Gymkhana and Bikekhana, and it’s happening on the long weekend in October, be there.

Louth Races, White Cliffs Gem Festival, and more

Good morning all,

The ‘outback’ seems to have come to life in August, just one event after another.

You can saddle up for the Annual Louth Races next Saturday, and be sure to arrive a day or two early they ramp up well before up there.

If you’d prefer the smell of engines over horses, then head down the Wentworth road from Broken Hill and you’ll have a ball at LANGWELL Stn. south of Broken Hill. where they’re holding the “Yamaha Cross Country Championships”. This is a really big event if you’re into bike racing.

The next weekend, the 17th./18th. is the big Gem Festival in White Cliffs, full weekend of fun. Camping and accommodation for miles.

I told you August was full, ‘cause the next weekend is the Wentworth Show. 24/25th. Now if you haven’t been to a Wentworth show then you’re missing out.

You know those few little knick-knacks you’re missing in the van? Well, if you’re within coo-ee of Wilcannia on the 24th., duck down the Menindee road about 7 k. and you’ll find an Auction sale at Moorabin and I guarantee you’ll find something to take your fancy. Stop by at the Wilcannia Motel too and grab a book or two or exchange from De at her pop up book exchange.
