October 2018

Remembrance Day, Rock Fest and more

Good morning all,

Activities seem to be winding down in our outback centres and of course it’s that time of the year. The old fella with the red coat will be around before we know it.

I guess the next bit of excitement is that horse race they organise down in Melbourne. I think you could call in at any of our little outback towns on the 6th. and you will be welcome to join in the afternoon’s festivities and have a wager on the Cup.

Then the same applies to Remembrance Day. Stop in to whichever town you’re near and you will be most welcome.

Apart from that you can enjoy the “Rock Fest” at Memorial Oval in Broken Hill on the 17th. and the Broken Hill Christmas Pageant coming up on the 1st. December.

Silver City Cup, Cobar Miner's Festival, and more

Cober Miner's Festival

Good morning all,

Well it seems the ‘airline’ carrying my email back to you all last week must have lost it at the Adelaide airport! Not sure who got it, and if you did it was thanks to Fiona. I’m trying a different approach this time, I’m sure it will work, but apologies anyway.

I am attaching the flyer for the Miners Festival in Cobar which incidentally starts today. Down load it if you can, will be a lot of fun, and it runs for the full week.

So next weekend, head for Broken Hill. The annual “Silver City Cup” is being run next Saturday, and as well there’s entertainment for you at the refurbished and “rejigged” Civic Centre with “Celtic Illusion”. Sounds like a great weekend, you better include a relaxing Sunday at Silverton or Mt. Gipps to round it all off.

Melbourne Cup day is just around the corner too  you know, most of our little out back towns will have something on and will welcome you along. The White Cliffs Pub is going out of it’s way to entertain you. The Wilcannia Golf Club is having a gettogether for all as well, and the Tourism Association is running a photo competition at the club, it will be on display that day and winners will be announced that afternoon. Come along and join in. Naturally our super Chinese restaurant will be open and ready to round your day off with Richard’s sumptuous cooking. Plenty of accommodation as well, with our 2 Caravan Parks, and 2 Motels, drop in and stay a day or 2.

Deniliquin classic films, Caulfield Cup, and more

Good morning everyone,

Well as planned, “wings of giant silver bird” delivered us back again. A bit of catching up to be done here, but I’m sure I’ll be in the swing of things again by next week.

Where do I start? Deniliquin is first cab off the rank, with a screening of “High Tide”, remember that classic movie you older people? Deni. Film Society is screening it next Friday at 7.30 PM free entry.

You should fill in the week there and then go to the Denni. Caulfield Cup Race meeting the following week end the 20th. Lets know if you didn’t get the brochures please Jane.

We’ve got the Community Markets in Broken Hill next Saturday if you’re about, and of course the team at “Out of the Ordinary Outback” have heaps of tours going out of “the Hill” through the school holidays. You have another choice whilst in the Hill now, head out to the Mt. Gipps complex for a quiet drink and relaxed meal.

Now the next weekend is a big one in White Cliffs. Saturday the 20th. is a get together “of cockies and miners”. A day of yarns, laughs, stories (true or false), followed by one hell of a concert that night with Graham Conners, take your swag!
