Broken Hill Art Gallery Exhibition, 150 years Louth, Markets and more

Good morning all,

No weather report this morning, out of my comfort zone at the moment looking after 3 beaut grandkids. And you wouldn't want this weather.

I'm sorry this is going to be a bit brief but back to my usual self next week.

The biggest event coming up is the 150 year celebration of Louth next weekend. The Celebration Dinner will be held on Saturday the 31st. Marg has advised me  that it's going to be a great weekend up there, so if you are within cooee of the Darling river town then please go along.

Then the next weekend is the Burra Country Music Festival. It's the 6th. 7th. and 8th. November and they will welcome you if you can be there.

And then if you are near Ivanhoe on Monday the 2nd. you must go along to the RSL Club for the Melbourne Cup Calcutta, starts at 8 PM. And of course the Melbourne Cup luncheon on Tuesday.

Broken Hill Art Gallery will open a new exhibition at 6.00pm on the 30th October featuring local artists, including works by Wilcannia’s Brian Harris. The Art Gallery also has a permanent exhibition featuring the works of many Broken Hill artist including Jack Absalom, Pro Hart and Eric Minchin.

Carbon Conference, The Silver City Cup and more

Hi everyone

Disappointing clouds I guess you’d call it, although a few mills down in “the inside country”. A bit more moisture would be handy.

We’re coming to the end of the year and things are quietening down. However the big event now is “The Silver City Cup”, it’s coming up next Saturday in Broken Hill. Will be a great days racing, and of course you can do all the ‘Broken Hill’ things while you’re there, go out to Silverton, duck out and see the RFDS Base and scores of other things.

If you’re around the Cobar area, there’s a “Carbon Conference” being held in their little town on the 28th. and 29th. Should be interesting. Only a few Days after that the Ivanhoe RSL Club are holding their annual Melbourne Cup Calcutta, Monday 2nd. 8 PM. Great night out, and meet friendly people. Of course Wentworth are holding their Melbourne Cup Day Race meeting also if you are likely to be down that neck of the woods.

The Burra Country Music Festival 2015, is next on the list. It’s on 6th.-7th.-8th. Nov. A long way away but you may be heading that way.

The Silver City Quilters, Balranald Races, Open Garden Day and more

Hello everyone,

Was certainly right about the dry roads! Will be for a while me thinks. Hope you all enjoyed your week and met at least one new friend.

Now, if you are in Broken Hill, “The Silver City Quilters” are holding their bi-annual exhibition, started Saturday and finishes today, so you better be quick ladies. It won’t take all day so duck out to Silverton afterwards and try to take in the RFDS Base as well.

Big weekend coming up at Balranald remember. 9th. to 11th. The 5 Rivers Outback Festival. It’s all happening down there next weekend and you’ll really enjoy it. They are also celebrating 150 years for the Balranald Central School, won’t there be some memorabilia to see there.

If you’re not in any hurry you could hang around the little town, do a bit of fishing, (they tell me, prawns or calamari!), and catch the Balranald Races on the 31st. Got to be worth thinking about.

Not down Balranald way, then you may be near Nyngan, Open Garden Day on in Nyngan on next Sunday the 11th. Check out the Big Bogan while you are there.

No rain in sight, as you probably know. Up to 38 degrees today and tomorrow, but back down to the 20’s on Wednesday, so don’t despair.
