"Santa" in White Cliffs, river peaks, and more

Good morning all,

As our year draws to a close, we can reflect on ‘ 50, 000 things’ that have taken place, but we have been really lucky out in this neck of the woods compared to literally thousands of people in the inside country and along the river.

So, if you are still travelling, as some of you are, almost all towns have something going on in the next few weeks. If you are passing through Wilcannia on the 17th. drop in to the market here, then you can head up to White Cliffs and catch up with “Santa” at the pub that evening, stay on for a meal with Matt and Sarah, but be sure to stop off at each town as each has something to offer.

Road wise, there is no problem passing from Broken Hill to Cobar or up to White Cliffs. No worries from Broken Hill to Menindee. Don’t tackle the river roads though, and check with the local Council regarding dirt roads.

The river is falling slightly in Louth, has just about peaked in Tilpa, and won’t get much higher in Wilcannia. So enjoy the flood water that’s about and have a good trip.

More importantly have a great and safe Christmas, we look forward to welcoming you to our outback towns in 2023 and who knows what the new year is going to bring.

From the Wilcannia Community Tourism Association, we wish you all a wonderful Christmas and look forward to catching up next year.

Kind regards, Bill Elliott. WCTA.

“He knows when you’re awake, he knows what you look like. He knows what you’ve been doing all year round, sounds like Santa has facebook.”
