Pooncarie Field Day, Cobar Show, White Cliffs Music Festival

Hello All,

I hope all centres had a really good group for their Anzac services. We certainly did here in Wilcannia, and the rain came in about 15 minutes TOO early! Not to worry we gathered up the left over sandwiches!

Hope the bits of rain didn’t hinder the activities planned at some towns. Really not a lot about anywhere, unfortunately of course.

Things have been quite hectic here this last week, and I’m not aware of a lot of activity coming up next weekend. We do have the Pooncarie Field Day on though, this is happening next Saturday, 3rd. So if you are anywhere in that area it’s a must. Those people down there will look after you.

However, if you are in the Nyngan or Cobar area in a week or two, then there’s the Cobar Show coming up on the 8th. and 9th. and I believe the Cobar Races also on the 9th. Then you can move on to Nyngan for their annual Show and enjoy that.

A little down the track is the White Cliffs Music Festival, May 15th. to 17th. More about that though, as I may be able to find a programme for you as we get closer.

As is always the case, if you are out in our area or up in the ‘Corner country’, make sure you tune the radio to one our great stations so you know what’s going on. 999 ABC Broken Hill, or 1584 if you’re around Wilcannia, 567 will give you 2BH Broken Hill, 585 is the ever popular 2WEB Bourke, 657 ABC Western Plains Dubbo, and Wilcannia River Radio is on FM 103.1. What more could you wish for??

Our big event here in Wilcannia of course is our “Field and Fun Day”, you’re all welcome, Sunday 7th. June.  Heaps more to come on that.

Look out for each other won’t you, take care and talk to you next week. Cheers Bill Elliott.  WCTA.
