Country Music Muster, White Cliffs Town Tour, and more

Good morning all,

Definitely going to need the ‘woollies’ this week, they’re even talking “minus” degrees. No snow on the roads though in our neck of the woods.

There’s a bit going on in the next few weeks it seems. Peter and Patsy are starting the ball rolling at the Silverton Pub with a “Country Music Muster” next Sunday. Then stick round the Silver City as “The Sapphires” are featured at the Civic Centre a few days later on the 4th.

Take in a few sites of the Hill then, (see Patrick and the gang at the VIC.) and that will lead to Steve Eales performing at the Silverton Pub on the 8th. that leads straight into the famous “Broken Heel Festival”. That’s on from the 13th. to 15th. And thrown in the middle is the Broken Hill Show on the 14th. It’s all happening over there, and wait there’s more! Lee Kernighan is presenting his new album at the Civic Centre on the 22nd. We haven’t heard of Lee for a while so it should be good.

We’ll move down to Wentworth now as there’s heaps going on down there, starting with the Country Music Festival, 27th Sept. Through to the 6th. Oct. Now duck in and see the girls at the Wenty Visitors Centre, ‘cause there’s heaps more happening, there’s Fishing Comps, Machine Knitting for the wives, and River Cruises. But then you really don’t have to do anything! You can sit back on the bank of the river, in a comfortable chair and watch the world go by.

If by chance you’re heading White Cliffs way, try and make it on a Friday. Rod will pick you up at the Caravan Park, take you for a “Town Tour”, he knows it inside out! Then there’s Craft at the Red Earth Opal Cafe in the afternoon for the ladies, which gives the boys a chance to check out “Seagull” at the pub, and finish off with Honor serving you dinner at The Store! The day’s done.

Now you could have headed Menindee way, if so you have, do a River Cruise with Rob and again call to the visitor’s centre and Margot will show you heaps to do.

Meanwhile up in the river boat town of Bourke, there’s all sorts happening. There’s the PV Jandra doing river cruises, there’s Camp fire sessions, there’s the “Outback Show” daily and they fire up the old “Crossley engine”, bet you’ve never seen one before! Be sure to check out Cobar and Nyngan of course on the way.

Meanwhile back in our little town here, our refurbished “M & J Kitchen” at the Golf Club is in full swing with really great Chinese food, our 2 caravan parks will welcome you and we have 24 hour fuel service, caravan dump point, and a pop-up book exchange/give way waiting for you.

Don’t forget our “Farm stays” scattered along the river, Trilby, Kallara, Neila Gaari, stop in at Coombah and Emmdale. Say G’day to them all!

Till we meet again, you all take care and have fun. Cheers Bill Elliott. WCTA.
