Great weather, Picnic Races, River Cruises, and more

Hello all,

Great weather, people going everywhere, it’s all happening. Had a lovely lady through town the other day, walking from Perth to Sydney, her husband chose the car! Another lovely girl here last night, heading off this morning riding a bike from Sydney to Darwin. If you see either on the road stop and say Hi.

Now, the agenda for the week, Picnic Races in Cobar next Saturday, if you’re a racing fan try and be there. If you’re in Broken Hill on the 27th. then Tri State Safari’s is running a 2 day Opal Dreaming Tour to White Cliffs, you’re in good hands with Mick and Jo. Also on next weekend, is the “Back O Bourke Boar Buster”, a 3 day weekend there, River Cruise on the Sunday, Poetry on a Plate with Hully, it’s all happening up at Bourke.

Broken Hill, the next weekend, the 4th. Sept. (us blokes get a pressie that day!), there’s the Country Music Father’s Day Muster at the Silverton Hotel. Guarantee you Peter and Patsy will give you a great time.

Also, that weekend of Father’s Day, there is a “Father’s Day Fishing Comp” at Menindee. Water in the river, more coming down, no doubt the fish will be biting.

Moving on out, also at Menindee, is the big “Rugby League Knock Out” on Saturday 17th. early start and a full day of football.

I have had a flyer from Cathryn at the Wentworth Visitors centre, on a Photo Comp. Ran by the Western LLS. Well worth a look at, and free entry. The flyer is attached, so all you keen photographers, here’s a chance to have a bit of fun and maybe a bit of prize money!

Hope that keeps you all occupied for the week, don’t forget if you see a lady walking or the other lady riding a bike, stop by and wish them well. Oh, and by the way, there could be a ‘bit of weather’ coming in the next few days, just warnin’ you!

Had a lovely evening with a heap of great people at Warrawong Van Park last night, you should drop in for a night or two and sample their evening meals, yum.

Bye now, Bill Elliott. Wilcannia Tourism Assoc.
