Most dirt roads now passable, Carinda Races and more

Good morning all,

Word has it the Louth Field Day was a resounding success, well done Louth and all who supported it.

Now it seems the rain has let up for a while, so most dirt roads are now passable, still check but particularly the Darling River Run should be possible one side or the other and take it in you may never see it like this again.

And speaking of the Darling river, yes the river is high and the odd creek is backed out a bit but it certainly is not a flood. No main roads are cut so take advantage of the spectacular green countryside and it’s even going to get better.

All those Farm stays down from Bourke and the National Parks are worth a look. We will get another flood one day but this is just a high river..

Ran into a lady from the Wentworth VIC in the Hill the other day, great bunch of ladies down there. Lots to do down there too.

Now the Carinda Races are on the 16th. July if you’re in the area and don’t forget the famous Louth Races, they’re on the 6th. August, but there’s happenings there for the whole week before. Almost need to have your mail redirected!

Soon after that of course is the 2nd. Mundi Mundi Bash near Silverton on the 18-20th.August, Peter and Patsie will look after you at Silverton if they have recovered from the last one.

But honestly just trip around our great outback, it’s looking wonderful at the moment. Drop in to each town, say G’day and be looked after.

Still essential that you show restraint on our gravel roads, few goats roaming about and the odd ‘roo to look out for. And of course our faithful radio stations full f information music and humour. Oh yes, the “World of Musical Concert” is on in Broken Hill on Friday the 29th. July, check it out.

What else can I say, have fun, drop in and say hi, and we’ll talk again in a couple of weeks.   Cheers  Bill Elliott.  WCTA.

“How did you find the weather when you were away?” “Just walked outside and there it was!”.

“If we didn’t have golf balls,  how would we measure Hail??”
