Booligal "Cattle Drive", Warrawong happy hour around the campfire, Anzac Services

Hello All,

Well, how did our weekend activities go? Chris and I went out to the Topar Gymkhana, record number of competitors, don’t quote me but I think someone said 600!! From 3 States, how good is that. All had a great time. Wonder how the Booligal Sheep Races turned out? A success no doubt with ‘the Mcleans’ at the wheel.

Now speaking of Booligal, did I tell you that Alllison advises that the “Cattle Drive” up the Long Paddock has had to be postponed. The stock route is closed (too dry} and will be held now on the 9th. 10th. Oct. But more about that as the time comes.

Bourke have hit their straps for the winter season, and Andrew and Sarah have actually started their “Poetry on a Plate” (last night). I’m pretty sure they can cater for you all on Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday nights. And you really shouldn’t miss out.

Meanwhile back here at home, the Warrawong Caravan Park is mine host for happy hour most nights now round the campfire. Tales to be told and laughs to be had. Or you can dine out with Richard at the Golf Club, courtesy bus provided.

Haven’t quite got all the times for Anzac Services throughout our area yet, but will have all that next Monday for you. However, if you are heading South Aus. Wise, then the Yunta Picnic races are on on Anzac Day 25th.

If you are into music, then the Hunter Valley Music Festival is nearly over, have to hurry.

Suggest you check out National Parks for their “Tag-along Tours” operating out of White Cliffs to Peerie lake and I think there could be one or two from Wilga Campground as well. By the way, if you are looking for a really great spot on the river to camp, don’t go past Wilga “Coach and Horses” camp ground. Right on the river, 40 Km. up from Wilcannia, free BBQ”s, toilets, water, fishing??? All good.

Must stress again, roads are getting powdery and cut up so please be careful, ask for advice, check with locals. And keep tuned to our fabulous radio stations, ABC Broken Hill 999, repeated on 1584 Wilcannia, 2BH 567 Broken Hill, 2WEB Bourke585, ABC Western Plains Dubbo 657.

Can expect mid 30’s by Wednesday, and me thinks some rain by Friday, till next week, keep kicking goals, cheers Bill Elliott   WCTA.
