Rain, Carols and Nyngan's The Performing Arts concert

Hello Everyone,

Those thunderstorms were a surprise! 60 to 80 points down the Cobb highway here and there. Take care if you are travelling that way.

First cab off the rank this week is our “Carols by Candlelight” here in Baker park on Tuesday night. All welcome, lucky dips, music, a family evening, you’re most welcome.

Then “Carols” again in Menindee on Saturday 13th. Again, all welcome.

Now to Nyngan! There’s the “Performing Arts Concert” at Nyngan on the 4-5th. (Thurs.-Fri.)

Hermidale Xmas Lighting in the great little village on the 5th. also. AND, “The Nyngan Garden Club Markets” in the Midstate Shearing Shed on Sat. 6th. I’m told there’s live entertainment as well. Waiting to hear from Tilpa! Heard on the grapevine, that Ross and Jenny have “Old Buckamby” up and running already, good on you both.

Back down to Ivanhoe, and I’m almost sure Scott Smith and his band of  helpers are aiming for an opening party at the Pub on the 10th. If I’m wrong I’ll let you know! Speaking of Scott, “Warrawong on the Darling” will be open right through summer this year, how good is that.

Ivanhoe "Quick Shear", Albie Pub Trivia, Milparinka "Field and Game Shoot"

Hello everyone,

My apologies if this is late again! I will have to get Fiona to pass it on as my “long distance” technical skills are sadly lacking.

Hope anyone who attended Nyngan Ag. Expo had a great time, and you certainly will if you make the Louth Races next Saturday, great day.

If you are in the Ivanhoe area then the Ivanhoe “Quick Shear” is a must at the RSL Club on that same day the 9th. I believe there is a BBQ. Idling along through the day as well.

The 14th. is the Trivia contest at the Albie Pub in Menindee, really good prize money too.

Government service, The Long Paddock, Ivanhoe reunion etc

Hello everyone,

We can definitely take this cool weather, anyone get more than 20 points of rain? No I didn’t think so.

First of all. A big congratulations to “The sunset Strip Progress Association”. They are the winners of the “Crown Lands Reserves Trust” corporate Managers Award, from 400 other entries. Well done guys, a credit to you.

Anyway,  most of the action is in Ivanhoe this week.

We have:

  • Australian Govt. Service Unit in the little town on Wednesday.
  • Free day Thursday, so duck down to Hay. (only 2 hrs.) They have the launch of the Book  “The Long Paddock” written by Tim Lee of “ Landline” fame. Well worth going to if you are near Hay.
  • Back to Ivanhoe for the School Reunion on Friday, and Friday night. What a day! (and night). “Do I know you”.
  • Saturday is a must for the ladies in Ivanhoe and from far and wide, The Gala Market Day, all day.

Back home in Wilcannia we have the launch of a book written by Patrick Ellis, past Principal of St. Thereses’ School, at the School on Friday 21st.

Moving into the next week, Monday 24th. here in Wilcannia, “Navigate your Life”. Principally for property owners and families. Sponsored by the RFDS, and repeated again at “Glen Hope Stn.” Near White Cliffs on Wednesday 26th.

If you are going through Ivanhoe, or maybe still there! Scott Smith is aiming to open “The Ivanhoe Pub” (the beer is flowing again) on Friday 28th. and I can guarantee it will be cold! (the beer that is)

Remembrance Service, Ivanhoe Gala Market Day, Menindee Carols By Candlelight

Off to a good start this week, and would you believe, not a sign of rain in sight. Not a lot going on either as our season draws to a close.

We have, a Remembrance Service taking place in both Wilcannia and Menindee tomorrow, Tuesday, starting at 10-45 AM, all welcome of course.

Then up at White Cliffs, you can have a spot of Indoor Bowls at the hall at 7-30 Thursday night. At the same Hall there’s Table tennis on Friday arvo, and to top it all off you can have a relaxed Dinner at the Store that night.

Pack up your gear and head down to Wendy at Ivanhoe the following week, as they have:

Govt. Mobile Service Unit there on Wednesday 19th.

Big Ivanhoe School Reunion, (God hasn’t so and so aged!), on the Friday 21st. and half the night as well. And then the Gala Market Day all day Saturday. The Wilcannia ladies are organised to go already!

Looking into the future----Menindee Christmas Pageant 2014, 5-30 PM Sat. 29th. Wilcannia Carols by Candlelight, 2nd. Dec. Menindee Carols By Candlelight, Saturday 13th. More happening than I thought.

Ivanhoe School Renunion, Big Annual Day, fuel costs

A “seniors moment”, lost the calendar!  No, no, a quick trip away, sorry about that. You didn’t miss anything in the 3 days though.

And carrying on as if nothing happened, next on the list is at Nyngan next Saturday. They are having “The Titles Fight Night” at the Palais Theatre starting at 6 PM sharp. Brings back old memories!

Then if you can whistle over to Muswellbrook next day, which you really can’t! There’s the Global Village Motor Festival and Fair” on Sunday the 9th. and there’s everything happening there.
