Wentworth Fishing Comp, Carinda Races, and more

Good morning everyone,

It’s definitely winter, but then we can get warm, those poor people on the coast really have problems. We feel for them.

Quite a bit coming up out here in our magnificent looking far west. What a spectacular spring we are going to have, and I haven’t checked out the “Sturt Desert Pea” plantation for you yet but can almost guarantee it will look fabulous!

First cab off the rank as I see it is the “Wentworth Fishing Comp.” on next Saturday the 9th. and then you have to duck straight up to Pooncarie for their “Gymkhana/Bikekhana” the next day, the 10th. Both well worth a look.

You’re really going to have to skip around our outback to catch the lot. See, the Carinda Races are there for you on the next weekend the 16th. If you’re a race goer then stay up that way for the “Xmas in July Races” in Bourke on the 23rd. and no end to what else is on up there.

But then if you are near our famous Deniliquin, stop off at the RSL Club on the 30th.for a great Music Night, (call and see Jane at the VIC.)

You can’t go to both these, but, the “Lightening Ridge Opal Festival” is 27th. to 30th. and “The World of Musicals” is in Broken Hill on the 29th. If that hasn’t confused you for July then well done!

August starts with the “Louth Races” on the 6th August. Remember how good their Field Day was, well the races are exceptional.

Which brings you to the Darling River run, what better time to do it. Stay at all the Farm Stays coming down, “Trilby”, “Dunlop”, “Roseisle”, “Kallara”, a night at Warrawong, left turn to White Cliffs and you’re there for their “Camel Cup and Bikekhana” on the 13th. then of course you duck back to Wilcannia in time for a coffee with Llana and poke on down to Greg and Lilly at “Neila Gaari”. Oh and you have to fit in the “Mundi Mundi Bash” at Silverton on the 18th. to 20th.and try and be down at Wentworth for the well known Wentworth Show on the 27th. 28th.

No idea how you’re going to do all of the above, just make sure you have a hell of a lot of fun trying!

Heaps more in September in a fortnight’s time. Take care all of you, Bill Elliott. WCTA.
