Bourke Easter Festival, White Cliffs Rodeo and Gymkhana, and more

Good morning all,

The majority of the hot weather must surely be behind us now.  Still not a lot happening out here in ‘our neck of the woods’ though. It seems Easter time is the start of the season festivities.

Bourke has their Easter Festival up there with heaps going on, big Race Day on the Sunday, and Jenny, at the “Back of Bourke Gallery”  has a “Season to Remember” on over the full  Easter period.

It goes without saying that Hully will have his camp ovens stoked up by then and “Poetry on a Plate” will be in full swing.

You can’t be at both, but White Cliffs will swing into action too over Easter with their “Rodeo and Gymkhana” and something for everyone. Another Easter festivity is the Menindee Community Markets, they’re on Easter Sunday. Just think how the Silverton Hotel will be rocking over Easter too.

Now if you’re in “the Hill” looking for something to do, why not do a day trip out to Moot National Park. Duck down to the Tri State Office in Argent street and there’s a tour on tomorrow, full flyer attached. Then take time on Wednesday say, to go out to the Royal Flying Doctor Base. See first hand how  those wonderful people operate and ensure that “Mantle of Safety” over all of us out in this vast outback. There’s a Theatre there to sit back and see how they operate, and souvenirs you are able to purchase.

Also in Broken Hill there is an art exhibition featuring some of the west’s very talented female artists. Exhibiting artists include Phyllis Ragenovich, Jan Allison, Jenny Cattonar, Beth Murray-Wilson, Joan Morris-Craker, Bella Lake, Robyn Taylor and Annie Learoyd. You will find them at the Old Town Hall Facade, near the Post Office in Argent Street. Runs until the 31st March.

Wentworth has a bit coming up too. Remember the Aust. Inland Botanic Gardens Big Brekkie and markets, that’s on at Wentworth on the 25th. And Barbie and Bowls at the Bowling Club on Sunday. 26th.

That covers a few towns for you. Remember if you are travelling through our little town (Wilcannia) stop off at Warrawong Caravan Park and relax, try our Coffee Shop, our great Golf Club and Green Dragon Restaurant, have a look round our 150 year old town, do the Heritage walk, stop and have a yarn!

Till next week, start planning, Easter will be here before you know it and we’d love to welcome you.  Cheers  Bill Elliott.   WCTA.
