KINCHEGA NATIONAL PARK – WOOLSHED CLOSURE

Please be advised that routine maintenance works are scheduled to be completed on the historic Kinchega Woolshed.

Kinchega NP Field Staff will be performing maintenance on the Woolshed interior by applying a lanolin based decking solution in order to help protect the timbers from weathering and keep the Woolshed’s wonderful sheep smell alive.

While the lanolin is being applied and drying the Woolshed will be inaccessible for public safety reasons. Works will commence on Monday 26th August 2013 and are expected to take a week to complete.

Park visitors are still welcome to explore the outside of the building. Access to the rest of the Kinchega NP Shearers Quarters Complex will also remain. Importantly, photography of Kinchega Woolshed’s unique silhouette will still be possible as the works will all be carried out internally with minimal impact to the outside appearance of the Woolshed.

I am informing both Commercial Tour Operators and park visitors in advance of the limited accessibility of the Kinchega Woolshed so as to prevent disappointment on arrival. Information will also be will displayed on the OEH website.

I will let you know when the interior of the historic Kinchega Woolshed is accessible once more to park visitors.

If you have any questions regarding the scheduled maintenance works on the Kinchega Woolshed and its subsequent short-term closure please do not hesitate to contact me on the numbers supplied below.

Cheers,
