as at 3rd February 2013: Residents of White Cliffs are alerted that BLUE GREEN ALGAE has been detected in the White Cliffs water supply.

BLUE GREEN ALGAE HAS ALSO BEEN DETECTED AT “ATLEY”, (Crisp’s)UPSTREAM OF THE WILCANNIA WEIR POOL

Residents are advised not to drink the water as this could potentially lead to health problems

PLEASE NOTE: Boiling of water will not remove or destroy blue green algae, but will make the water more toxic as boiling allows more toxins from blue green algae to be released. Council advises residents to utilise an alternative water supply for drinking and cooking purposes.

Bathing/showering is safe but care must be taken not to ingest any water.

FURTHER TESTING OF THE WATER IS BEING UNDERTAKEN IN THE FOLLOWING WEEK
