Potable water for RVs, Christmas parties, and more

Good morning to you all,

Our great year is fast drawing to a close. It must be, there are Christmas festivities on everywhere. So let’s start with them, and we’re off to White Cliffs next Saturday 3rd. for their Christmas Street Fair, big night always in White Cliffs.  Also on the 3rd. is the Broken Hill Christmas Pageant, now that is worth seeing. You obviously can’t do them both!

Back to our own little town, and the Wilcannia Concert at Burke oval is on the 9th.   If you duck down to Menindee next morning, Saturday, you’ll catch Carols by Candlelight there on Sat. 10th. By the way, the Wilcannia-Menindee west side road is the best I’ve seen it. If you’d like to do a circuit, then head on across to Ivanhoe for their Christmas Fair, everything at it on Wednesday 14th.

Back tracking a little, you can call at the Emmdale Roadhouse for their Christmas Party on the 10th. You’ll hear some rippers of stories there if you can handle the pace! Can’t make it? Then the Nyngan Christmas Carnival is on the same night. Nyngan down to Wagga, and their Christmas Spectacular, something for everyone, is on the 11th.

Bourke comes in next with their Christmas Night Markets at the Wharf, on the 14th. Then you better hang around that area and  enjoy the Tilpa Christmas Tree on the 17th. If you can make yourself look under 12 you’re allowed to dress up!

Now a couple of other items, there’s  meetings of the Murray Darling Basin Authority, they are in Bourke on the 2nd. and Wilcannia on the 5th. for those interested.

I told you we are proud to have a caravan dump site here in Wilcannia now. Well if you need potable water to top up your trailer/van we have that too! Call and see John, Pat or Michael at BP here in town and they will get you organised. All we need is our “RV Friendly” sign and hopefully you’ll see that next year.

Speaking of next year, I think I will leave you all to it now. I would like to wish you all a very happy and safe Christmas and New Year. Thank you all so much for reading and contributing to my little ‘ditties’, I have thoroughly enjoyed doing this, and I must say special thanks to our secretary Fiona, for putting them on whatever she puts them on!! Each week. I have had feed back from south east SA, Adelaide, Newcastle, etc.

Menindee Christmas Fair, Red Earth Cafe Craft, and more

Good morning everyone,

As events are winding down for the year, I feel this is going to be a repeat of last week’s yarn. I don’t think there is going to be a lot of change in the weather even, warm and warmer is probably the outcome with a shower or two on Tuesday/Wednesday.

We have the Menindee Christmas Fair next Saturday if you’re near the little riverside town. If you are then make sure you have a look at the Lakes and Kinchega National Park, all interesting.

National Parks brings to mind the tours that are happening down at Mungo, guided tours there right up to a few days before Christmas.

White Cliffs, if you are nearby has Craft and a bit of a natter every Friday at the Red Earth Cafe for the ladies, and of course the men folk will find solace in a middy or three over at the White Cliffs Hotel, why not?

Way down in “the inside country” is the Muswellbrook Cup Carnival happening next Friday. If you’re a racing fan they do things properly down there. Of course if you’re out here in the “outback” it’s a long trip to have a bet or two!

Much closer to us is the Nyngan Christmas Carnival and Markets on the 10th. of December, harvest will be in full swing down there then. And I know you won’t make both but the Wagga Christmas Spectacular is being staged on the 11th. More things to see in Wagga than you can poke a stick at.

Menindee Christmas Fair, Nyngan Christmas Carnival etc

Good morning everyone,

Sorry about last week’s edition, we had a great time though.

What a storm that was the other night, hope caravans and vehicles came out OK, Broken Hill and Mildura seemed to be hardest hit. Could still be the odd branch on a quiet road too so take care.

Apart from the usual weekly events, I think the next one is the Town and Country Ladies Luncheon in Ivanhoe next Saturday, if you’re in the area, drop in to the RSL Club and say you’re there.

Then the following Saturday the 26th. is the Menindee Christmas Fair. Check out the Menindee lakes while you are about it, great sight. Mind you if you are down in the ‘inside country’ then the Muswellbrook Cup Carnival is going to be a big day on the 25th. Then down to the bottom of the state, and the Buronga International Food Fair is on next Saturday as well, and of course heaps to see in Mildura and that neck of the woods.

While all this is going on there are regular tours taking place at Mungo, so give the NPWS office at Buronga a call and they will do the rest for you.

Should you be still kicking about in December, then try and take in the Nyngan Christmas Carnival and Markets on the 10th.  Fun there and plenty of water in the Bogan.

Must welcome a new contact to our group, Cherise Duncan at Louth, who does her bit for the Louth community, good stuff. Here’s one for inclusion in your 2017 trip, the Wentworth Junction Rally 2017, it’s on in July and of course we’ll keep you posted.

Numbers are slowing, Christmas festivities are on the agenda, Santa must be on the way. If you’re heading home have a safe trip and do it all again next year!
