Cameron's Corner Store celebration, Wilcannia Field and Fun Day

Hello all,

Well the “blue ribbon” event of the week of course is the 25th. birthday of the Cameron’s Corner Store. (Flyer attached). If you make it, Fen and Cheryl will look after you. And as I said last week, when you leave the “corner Country”, head down towards Wilcannia, take up residence at Warrawong on the Darling, and be our guest at our annual “Wilcannia Field and Fun Day” on the next Sunday, 7th.  (again Flyer attached)

If you are heading past Menindee, on 26th. you realise that’s tomorrow of course! Then they have “Biggest Morning Tea”, (few of them about), but this is at the Pensioner’s Hall in Menindee, all welcome and fun to be had.

You can then duck down to Hatfield, not far from Menindee. They have “The Hatfield Happening High Tea”, now that’s on Thursday. All are welcome, the ICPA ladies are running it so say no more, it will be great.

No idea how you are going to fit all this in, but you need to be up in White Cliffs on Friday (29th. that is) and Robyn Taylor, top artist, will take you through a “craft and art” session from 10 AM on.

If you decided to stay with Wendy at the Ivanhoe Caravan Park, then you’re all set for the Ivanhoe Pre School car boot sale and fete. All the trimmings too, BBQ, drinks, laughter and probably song too.

No where near any of the above you say. That’s fine, have a great day out at “The Warren Show” also on Saturday 30th. On the other hand if you are hanging round Broken Hill, and there’s heaps to see there, then why not go along to the Civic Centre, centre of town, and laugh your head of with “Queens of the City” 7 PM to 9 PM. Sunday 31st.

Warren Show

Hello all,

No hiccups today I hope, back on my home turf again. Travelled 2700 k. And saw a lot of very dry country. Not good.

Certainly hope it was a fantastic weekend at The Cliffs, would have to have been.

In a general order of sequence, we have “A big Shearers Reunion” in Nyngan on the 23rd. (next Saturday). If you’re an old Nyngan shearer be there, if not go along anyway and spin a yarn! It’s happening at the Canonbar Hotel in Pangee St. Could be a long session! 26th. (Tuesday) takes you to the “Biggest Morning Tea” if you are in range of Menindee. It’s happening at the Pensioners hall, just think of all that home cooking, good stuff.

If you are down in “the inside country”, lash out and go to the “Warren Show” on the 30th. always a good day at a local show.

You will have to get your skates on to make it up to Fen and Cheryl at The Corner Country Store. It’s their 25th. birthday, and it’s on Sat./Sun. 30th./31st.what a weekend it will be, see attached Flyer. Something for everyone, if you’re within 500km, well worth it. I believe a lot of work is going into preparation.

When you feel like taking to the road again at “The Corner” please head down to our little township here at Wilcannia for our “Annual Field and Fun Day”, Sunday 7th. Long Weekend. Looks like being bigger than ever, at last count about 19 Exhibitors. Fabulous display of Station memorabilia coming all the way from Bathurst! Visitors 2nd. time round from Geelong. Good prize money to be won. Heaps of room to stay at Warrawong.

Mother's Day, Annual Field and Fun Day

Good morning everyone,

Now I sincerely hope you fellas were all up and put the billy on yesterday in good Mothers Day spirit! And of course I hope you Mothers had a really laid back leisurely day. Yeah right.

Your few lines today are coming from Newcastle, cold, windy, but not wet this time. The big event coming up this week is the White Cliffs Music Festival, next Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The feature event for the little township.

Attached is the Flyer as to what’s going on through the 3 day event, so hope you can make it up to the Opal town and enjoy yourself.

If you happen to be coming through Wilcannia at the weekend and have a bit of spare time, then there’s a football match you can take in on Saturday at the oval. Lunch available and a good game assured

Can’t find any activities on the next weekend for you at this stage, but if you’re around Ivanhoe on Saturday 30th. Then there’s a heap of fun to be had at the Ivanhoe School Oval with a car boot sale and a host of other things, BBQ the lot.

On the other hand, if you forgot a Mothers Day present and you are near Nyngan on the 30th./31st. then take you wife to the Nyngan Riverside Caravan Park to be pampered! Flyer attached, say no more!

Peery Lake road still closed, White Cliffs Music Festival

Hello all,

For those of you who made Pooncarie, ‘good oh’, would have to have been a great show. No problem with wet roads I should think, and I’ve been advised by a lovely lady who follows the weather, that there’s no rain in sight for the next umpteen days. “Elsewhere fine” as the saying goes.

All roads lead in the Cobar / Nyngan direction for next weekend. Would you believe, not only the Cobar Show next Friday and Saturday, but, the Cobar Races are on Saturday as well. So why not make it a weekend and drop in to the Cobar Caravan Park and enjoy, Tracey will welcome you.

Of course you then have to head further towards the “inside country” and catch up with the Nyngan Show, which follows on. Now it’s worth going to both as they have entirely different things in some sections.

Once at ‘Nyngan on the Bogan’, you might feel like toodling up to Bourke and sample Andrew and Sarah’s camp oven dinner that’s on 2 nights a week, and he is really good at reciting a bit of poetry too they tell me, apart from everything else there is to do in Bourke.

Back on our own ‘turf’. We joined 30 or 40 very friendly campers at “Warrawong Caravan Park” last Wednesday evening for “happy Hour”. It was fantastic round the campfire, cheese and bikkies, tall stories! All good fun if you are travelling within coee of our little town. Speaking of which---, Miss Barrett’s Coffee Shop will be closed from next Thursday for about a week. Unfortunately we are unable to find a ‘shop caretaker’ to pour coffee etc. and we have a boy and his wife turning forty, (still a boy). So sorry for any inconvenience, however I’m sure Adrian will be open.
