Karin Donaldson Art Exhibition, some events postponed

Good morning all,

To those of you who are travelling, I hope you are enjoying your trip and seeing some new country out here in our vast outback.

Our numbers are obviously down at present as our Sydney siders and coastal friends are unable to venture out and by and large are adhering to the covid regulations. I’ve heard from a couple of our venues out here that an odd Sydney sider has blatantly walked in, and rightly so has been asked to leave.

For you travellers poking round and enjoying yourselves, one of our local ladies, Karin Donaldson has an Art Exhibition on display at the Broken Hill Art gallery, a credit to her and well worth a look.

Meanwhile, as I said the Milparinka Gymkhana has been postponed till the 11th. Sept. As has the Mundi Mundi Bash, being held now at the end of September. As far as I know the big Truck and Tractor Show is still going ahead in Ivanhoe on the October long week end, so put that one in the diary. We’ve lost the Louth Races unfortunately but as one person reasoned, “I can’t make them all wear their masks now, what hope would we have on the race course”.

Keep in mind also, there is heaps going on in Broken Hill in September. I’ll bring you up to date as we get closer, it’s a fun packed month. And Randall has advised us the White Cliffs Art Festival is happening at the end of September/early October.

Vehicle bogged on the Cobb highway yesterday, so please be careful on the dirt roads, let them dry out, you still have tomorrow untouched.

Unfortunately we have had a spate of break in’s out here in recent weeks. The Louth hotel was one, the Byrock hotel, Ford’s Bridge hotel, the Brewarrina RSL Club and the Wilcannia post office. If you see anything that looks not right or hear of anything relative, please let the police know as they will appreciate any leads available.

If you are unsure of where to go or what to see, remember a local knows best. Stop and have a yarn. And as I always say, tune in to our fabulous radio stations, grab a coffee and relax.

Till we meet again, have a great week, and relax.  Cheers, Bill Elliott. Wilcannia Community Tourism Association.
