Ideal weather, Cobar Annual Show, and more ...

Good morning all,

Definitely can’t complain about the weather, isn’t it fantastic. And more of the same to come. Which means pretty well all dirt roads are ready and waiting for you.

Ideal time to venture into some of our Farmstays and sit back and relax. Now obviously next Sunday is Anzac Day and you are welcome to attend in any of our little towns, and big ones for that matter. Of course don’t forget White Cliffs are having a 2 day horse event up there. Gymkhana and the lot, and heaps of entertainment.

A little tip on phone reception out here too. If you have a Telstra mobile phone and you are on an Aldi Plan, then you have problems out here. Even though it’s a Telstra phone, Aldi plans will only work in the likes of Broken Hill. Don’t get caught.

Speaking of Broken Hill, you may have heard of the Big Mundi Mundi Bash that’s taking place near Silverton in August. Well the tickets were almost sold out in a matter of hours a week or so back. They are expecting thousands at it. And as an indication, Warrawong on the Darling have all their rooms booked out already! Don’t panic though, we still have Victory Park caravan park and 2 Motels. Certainly going to be a big event, and month really.

Again, Broken Hill. There’s a heap of live music going on in various venues across the city this week and on. Check with the Visitors Information Centre gang or grab a local paper, it’s all there.

Cobar are stepping out in May and having their Annual Show. So if you can make Cobar on the 7th. and 8th. May you’ll be in the middle of all the fun.

Good flow of water in the Darling now, and I am told they are catching a few fish as well. So that “River Run” may have some merit if you’re that way inclined.

I’ve had calls from people planning trips this way as far out as August/September, so it looks really good for the whole winter. We’re looking forward to giving you all an enjoyable stay. We’re an RV friendly town with van dump point, coffee shop reopening, great Chinese meals at our Golf club, and lots more.

As always, give me a ring if I can make life easier for you, and let me know if you’re planning a “dog fight” or something and we can all be in it.

Till we meet again, smile and bring pleasure to someone’s day. All the best, Bill Elliott.  Wilcannia Community Tourism Association.

A drunk was staggering home through the park when he saw a man doing push-ups. He yelled “I think you should know pal – your girlfriend has gone home.”
