Good morning all,

A very good friend of mine in Ivanhoe asked me to promote “they’re biggest event of the year”. How could I refuse?

And so if you’re near Ivanhoe, head to the RSL Club tonight, buy yourself a horse in the Calcutta and win a fortune next day on the Cup.

If you are elsewhere, Maiden’s Hotel in Menindee starts celebrating Cup Day at 12 noon. White Cliffs is having fun at the White Cliffs Pub and they kick off at 12 noon.

The Wentworth Cup race meeting is also extending an invite to you to attend.

Deniliquin has a Calcutta on tonight at the RSL Club and be sure to return tomorrow for the Cup, they’ll look after you.

The Wilcannia Golf Club starts at noon tomorrow and you can watch the big race in comfort.

Down in “the inside country”, Muswellbrook Race Club has a race meeting, and there’s a luncheon at “The Cottage” in Scone.

Please check with local media on Remembrance Day services next Sunday. At 11.00am on the 11th day of the 11 month, 1918 the guns of World War 1 fell silent. Please pause to remember the 330,000 who served, the 60,000 who did not come home and the 150,000 who brought back the physical and mental injuries from the war to end all wars.

There’s ten times more happening than  I have covered, so go and enjoy yourselves, drink sensibly, or something like that and have fun.

Till we meet again, have a great time, it’s not the destination that counts, it’s the trip along the way. With best wishes, Bill Elliott.  Wilcannia community Tourism Association.
