“50 year Celebrations” at Kinchega National Park

Good morning all,

Yes, I have returned and I think I have missed a lot of major events in my absence.

Unfortunately from here to Gilgandra to Newcastle to Canberra  to Forbes, there is absolutely no feed and very little water. A grim outlook going into summer as seen by an old “cocky”, and I’m sure many of you will relate to the situation.

I may miss an odd coming event tonight, so please walk across the keyboard and let’s know what’s doing in your area.

In our area, the big event is the “50 year Celebrations” at Kinchega National Park, Menindee this coming Sunday 8th. Call to the National Parks Office in The Hill for all the details. Should be a great day.

The following Saturday 14th. we have both the Community Markets in Broken Hill and the Cobar Family Muster and Gymkhana in Cobar. Various events around Cobar that day and plenty to fill your day in.

If you’re down Wentworth way, then the “Port of Wentworth Country Music Gala” is still on till next Saturday. In fact there is festivities all around Wentworth and Mildura over next weekend.

Up Bourke way, the old Crossley engine, (you’ve just got to see it), is started each week day at 12 noon, and of course there’s heaps else to do up in the river town. River cruises, camp oven cooking,

National Parks to see and more.

Speaking of national Parks, there’s heaps of school holiday Tours going on at the moment at all National Parks, check ‘em out.

Tri State Safari Tours are also in full swing, venturing out from the Broken Hill office in Argent Street to all points of the west.

Enormous number of tourists moving through town here at the moment, which made our Driver Reviver 3 day stint here probably our best ever. People from literally every state on their way to have a good time, and enjoyed a chat.

Hope you all have a fun filled week, listen to our radio stations while travelling, ABC Wilcannia, Broken Hill and Dubbo, 2WEB Bourke, and the FM stations.

Don’t drive through a town, stop and yarn to a stranger, you’ll then have a new friend.

Till next week, take care on the road.  Cheers,  Bill Elliott. Wilcannia Tourism Association.
