Twilight Street Markets, Remembrance Day Services, Really Big Market Day

Good morning everyone,

Well last week’s weather was certainly ‘predictably unpredictable’. Some good falls in places, particularly in the ‘inside country’. So, if you are using dirt roads this week, and you’re not sure of conditions, Central Darling Shire road report phone number is 80 915155, which covers most of this outback area.

This week we have Remembrance Day Services at Wilcannia in Baker Park, and also at Menindee. So if you are near either town on Wednesday you are most welcome.

Friday 13th. (don’t worry!) there’s the Twilight Street Markets down at Dareton. Fun for all the family. And we have the big Shire Plant Auction here in Wilcannia also on the 13th. with 23 vehicles going under the hammer as well as heaps of other machinery.

The 14th. (Saturday) sees the Broken Hill Community markets from 8 AM to 1 PM if you are anywhere about ‘the Hill’.

The 21st. has heaps going on. The Wentworth Anglican Ladies Guild are having a “Christmas Cent Sale”. There’s an “International Food Festival” on at Buronga. And there’s a “Really Big Market Day” on at Ivanhoe. In fact it’s their Annual Day so if you can don’t miss out.

Moving on along, there’s the Sale of Surplus Equipment at the Ivanhoe Hospital on the 28th. A lot of gear to be auctioned. Down at Wentworth the next day is the Rotary Club Markets, big family day out.

During all this period the National Parks are holding “Walls of China Walks” almost daily. If you contact the Buronga office on 0 50218900 they will give you the full story.

Remember the Lawnmower Races I mentioned last week? Well tanks to that lovely lady correcting me, you have plenty of time to tune your mower up! It’s all happening at Booborowie, on the 12th. December!

Hope the rain doesn’t curtail you too much. Our radio stations will guide you through. And of course the simple way is to call and ask a local.

Till next week, have fun and don’t miss a thing.  Cheers  Bill Elliott  WCTA.
