Silverton Morning Show, Mobile reception in Wilcannia

Good morning everyone,

We still don’t seem to have made 2nd. gear yet with events happening, which is probably a good idea the way this heat is shaping up. I hate to say they are talking another week or more high 30’s and low 40’s!

Now something I have forgotten to mention, particularly to you good people coming out to our vast outback. You need a Telstra next G phone to get reception. I have seen this disappointment on so many faces at our coffee shop over the time. So, if you’re heading this way perhaps buy a cheap Telstra phone and a bit of credit.

Broken Hill has quite a lot to offer this week, if you’re around the big city you can enjoy “karaoke” at the Palace Hotel on Wednesday night. You can go to a Talent Quest at the Civic Centre on next Friday night. And then a real must in between is a visit to the RFDS Base out at the airport. Wonderful people out there and only too happy to show you around and see how the Flying Doctor network really works.

Of course you will have to duck out to Silverton, catch up with Peter and Patsy at the Silverton Pub, as “The Morning show” is doing a live gismo out there this week. Who knows, you could be part of it!

If anyone made it to the  Marra Sheep Field Day yesterday, I’m sure it was a success, and pleasssse, let me know when you have anything on in your neck of the woods.

A little word of caution, please take care on the road this hot weather. Saw a caravan this arvo with a tyre blown to pieces. That bitumen is really hot these days and that tests out the best of tyres. Carry plenty of drinking water. Travel in the cooler mornings. Keep the speed moderate. Look out for your mates. And above all keep that water up, to the dog as well!

Guess what? Next week we will be 7 days closer to a cool change! You all take care now, cheers Bill Elliott,  WCTA.
