Golf Club Dance, Festival of the Fleeces, Louth Field Day

Hello all,

I’m not even going to try and predict the weather this week! Just put another log on the fire. 3 daughters and a son down the coast, washed out!

Don’t know how many of you good people we will see here in Wilcannia next weekend, but you are all most welcome and I hope we don’t disappoint you.

Just had a ring from a lovely lady at Batemans bay who heard Chris on Macca yesterday, was here 43 years ago and is coming back, how good is that.

The only variation we have been forced to make is: no supper at the Golf Club Dance Saturday night as the restaurant will be open from 6 PM to 9 PM. It’s the old saying, “the difficult can be handled, but the impossible takes a bit longer.” See you all at our Field and Fun Day Sunday.

Now if you are not in our area, there’s still heaps on. Take Ivanhoe for instance, there’s Sunday Roast on there every week at the Oasis Rose cafe, there’s a limited number raffle at the Pub for a ticket to the State of Origin Match in Sydney, and if you’re about on the 18th. there’s the Ladies Luncheon at the RSL Club. Great caravan park there too, plenty of accommodation.

Not in that area you say. Then there’s the Festival of the Fleeces, at Merriwa next Saturday, followed by a Bush Poets Breakfast next morning at that same little town. Top town Merriwa and a great Bowling Club too.

From one side of the State to the other, Community Markets in The “Hill” next Saturday, and while you’re there, you may as well do a 4 day Corner Country Tour with Mick and Jo at Tri State Safari’s leaving the Hill on the 14th. You’ll have a ball with those two.

You know you should check out the RFDS Base while you’re in the Hill too. Doctors, nurses and staff who are at the ready to help us all out here at all times, and do a marvellous job.

Can’t forget our northern friends, Louth Field Day, next Saturday, big Day and great people, and if you’re heading north there’s heaps to see and enjoy at Bourke. Remember, cruises, camp ovens,  poets and the list goes on.

If you’re in our little town next weekend please come and say ‘g’day’, and above all enjoy yourselves.

See you at the oval, programme attached for your help.  Take care now, cheers  Bill Elliott,  Wilcannia Tourism Association.

Jackie: “I don’t look 37, do I?  Says Jill, “No darling, but I bet you did when you were.”
