Remembrance Day Services, Community Markets, Buronga International Food Fair

Hello all,

Bit of rain out of the blue yesterday, and they tell  me, a bit cooler this week. Met Steve at ‘the office’ last night, he’s been on the road for 2 years, his wife works 6 weeks on and 6 weeks off and flies to wherever he is for the off period! How unique is that?

No reports on the big weekend in Broken Hill as yet but I’m sure it was successful. Scott Smith, and Mick and Jo McCulkin held the opening of their “Out of the Ordinary Outback” Centre also in Broken Hill on Friday and an enjoyable few hours was had by all.

You need to be fairly close to Ivanhoe if you’d like to go to the Calcutta at the Club tonight, or if you are at Menindee then duck down to Maidens Hotel and have some fun with the Melbourne Cup doubles there.

The next happening is Remembrance Day Services, they are being held in most of our little communities including here in Wilcannia, and you are all cordially invited wherever you may be.

Then the next day (12th.) is the Community Markets in Broken Hill, never know what you might find.

If you’re in Mildura or surrounds on the 19th. then the Buronga International Food Fair is on that very day. It will be good, they have been doing it for 45 years, they’re experts.

The next Saturday, the 26th. still November, is the Christmas Fair at Menindee. There’s outback hospitality for you for sure.

And intermingled with all of that, is River Cruises on the Darling twice weekly at Bourke and Wentworth. Sit back and be waited on, why not.

Don’t forget about the abundance of other places either. The Farm Stays, Mia and Fen will still welcome you at Packsaddle and Cameron’s Corner. Peter and Patsy at Silverton. Places of interest all over “the Hill”, White Cliffs is still humming, and listen in to our fabulous radio stations. Even sit back here in Wilcannia and take in the mighty Darling, what a sight!

Can’t be sure I will be with you all next Monday morning, Chris and I are stepping a bit out of the ordinary, remember that saying, if you’re not living on the edge, you’re takin’ up too much room! So we’ll see what happens and in the meantime have a hella lot of fun, and say g’day to a stranger.   Cheers for now,  Bill Elliott.   WCTA.
