Rain, roads, Kilfera Field Day, The festival of a Thousand Stories

Hello everyone,

Well maybe the wet weather put the ‘ki-bosh’ on a few trips last week, and it seems we have some more “weather” coming in on Tuesday. Better stick to the black stuff to be safe. Probably won’t take much rain to put most roads out again.

Dropped in to the Matilda Motor Inn to catch up with Murray and Sharon, to find they were here at Warrawong! On their way to Eyre’s Rock, have a great time you two.

Big event coming up of course is the Birdsville Races next weekend. They come from all over eastern Australia for this event. The food and drink consumed is unbelievable. Will try and get you the stats. next week.

In the meantime, if your passing through Menindee on Thursday, then you can go to an exceptionally funny show called “Stones in His Pockets”, it’s on at 8 PM. And is also on in White Cliffs on Saturday. Really good show they tell me. If you can make White Cliffs on Friday then there’s Craft for the ladies at the Red Earth Cafe, gold coin donation, learn a new stitch or two.

You can’t make all these events I know, but there’s also “The festival of a Thousand Stories” happening at Bourke this week, 1st. to 5th. Luke is still going also in Bourke, with his very successful “Outback Show” till the end of September, and there’s free River and Town walking tours happening at Bourke every weekend. Busy place Bourke at the moment. Apart from that,  if you pop into Nyngan on Wednesday (3rd.) you can see a 1 Woman Play called “Gloria’s Handbag”. (Flyer attached). Thanks heaps Donna and Margaret for your input.

As always, down the track. We have The Mt. Gipps Ram and Ewe Sale on the 18th. Then a big weekend coming up in Ivanhoe, 25th. is Kilfera Field Day, 26-27th. Ivanhoe Gymkhana and Rodeo. And won’t they look after you down there. If you’re too far from Ivanhoe then you can spend the 26th. and 27th. at the White Cliffs Gem Festival and Car Boot Sale.

So, mind how you go on the dirt roads this week, stay tuned to our fabulous Radio Stations, 2WEB, ABC Dubbo, Broken Hill, and Wilcannia. 2BH, and 107.7 FM .

Hope you meet a new friend this week, try something different, laugh at yourself and take care, cheers Bill Elliott   WCTA.
