Roads, Big Life Charity Focus, Bourke and more

Hello everyone,

(Update, Thursday 6th) --

I have two events come to hand since Monday morning, they are.

The Annual Ivanhoe “Quickshear”. This is a great event if you are anywhere near Ivanhoe this Saturday. Toodle along to the Ivanhoe RSL, it’s an all day event and I guarantee they will look after you for the evening  as well. You’ll see the top shearers in action and the local folk will welcome you.

If on the other hand , you are in the Bourke area, then you can see a day full of top Rugby League games. The grand final of the Barwon Darling River Football Comp will be the big event up at Bourke this weekend.

I know you can’t fit both in but either way these two towns will look after you.

As always, be sure to enjoy yourselves, talk soon, cheers Bill Elliott   WCTA.

“Gossip is when you hear something you like about someone you don’t”

We won’t forget this winter, no rain this week but me thinks heaps of cloudy days, why buy solar?? Still, the roads are dry so you can take the road less travelled. Speaking of that, if you poke out to Peery Lake (NPWS) the road is good, toilets opened, BBQ available, if you’re in that area.

The Signature Event of the week of course is the Louth Races. If you’re within cooee of Louth next Saturday you will definitely enjoy the day. There will be that many people there you’re bound to see someone you know.

Hope you enjoyed the Nyngan Ag. Expo on Saturday, brother John tells me there were over 200 exhibits, obviously I didn’t make it! And of course if you are into Field Days then don’t forget “Ag. Quip” at Gunnedah, a 3 day event, 18-19-20th. Careful you don’t get lost, it’s really big.

If you can’t make Louth next Saturday, then try and get to Nyngan. Big Life Charity Focus (attached) at the Riverside Van Park, food refreshments, entertainment, the lot. Try and make it and support them.

Meanwhile, the Outback Show is still running in Bourke, their Fishing Comp. Is coming up on the 21-23rd. If you like fishing. However if you like to “fossick” then the Menindee Markets are on next Sunday, 10-1 PM at the RTC ground.

Taking the road less travelled? Then Louise will look after you at Goodwood Stn. with a writing and photographic workshop on the 15-16th. just 2 weeks away.

Otherwise, stop off for a break in each town, buy a coffee or cuppa, say G’day to a local, guarantee you’ll learn something. Listen to those great radio stations we have, 657, 999, 1584, 585, 567, and FM 103.1 and 107.7. And above all, look out for your mate. Take care now and we’ll gather again next week, cheers Bill Elliott   WCTA.
