More rain, Ivanhoe Rodeo and Gymkhana, lots more

Hello all,

Last week we said goodbye to a mate who touched the heart of everyone he came in touch with, rest in peace Macca.

It seems rain is the order of the week, not only the day. So, all dirt roads are off limits once again, more book reading time again. And a hi to my good friends down in the south east, (SA). Had no idea my “trivia” went that far!

A lot happening next week end, in fact you have no hope of attending the lot, too many Km’s between them. We start with the Ivanhoe Rodeo and Gymkhana, it’s on next Saturday and Sunday, lets hope the Cobb Highway is open. On the very same time is the White Cliffs “Underground Art Festival” but it takes in Friday as well, a 3 day extravaganza up there at “The Cliffs”. Now would you believe, down at Wentworth, the Wentworth Country Music celebrations commence on the 23rd. too.

Of course there is heaps of other great things to do in these towns as well, so whichever one you end up at make sure you take everything in, don’t miss a trick.,

Once you get over next weekend, you can set your sights for 2 events in The Hill. “Environment of Change” is a one day Seminar 24th., and sounds interesting (Flyer attached). And the  “Rural Women’s Gathering”  taking place in Broken Hill the following week of the 28-30th. and it’s theme is “Rock, Rust. Stars and Dust”. Going to be a big event in The Hill, and of course there’s just heaps and heaps of other things to do and see while you’re in the area.

If you think you missed the Menindee “Fishing Comp” you haven’t. It was postponed and is now the 22-23rd. October, and you can attend the Cabaret to celebrate 40 years of the Yabbies Football Club, fun night out there even if you don’t catch a fish!

Incidentally, if you happen to be at fantastic “Warrawong Caravan Park on Thursday, duck over to St. Therese’s School (over the road) and have some fun at their Annual Fete, Thursday morning.

Haven’t reminded you of our Radio Stations for a while, most important now with wet roads. They are all great to listen to and most informative.

Be careful going off the bitumen, the edge can be BOGGY. Pick your spot for a cuppa. Say G’day to your mate, and if you can’t lend a hand, give a kind word!

Till next week,  cheers Bill Elliott,  Wilcannia Tourism Assoc.
