Rain, Broken Hill Big Harness Race Meeting, Easter Raffles

Good morning everyone,

Well done to those of you who have received some rain! Quite a few good falls around. We seem to be in the “elsewhere fine” region! 3 mls for the year.

If you are out in our far west then all roads lead to Broken Hill this coming weekend. Big Harness Race Meeting in town on Friday night. The event of the year on Saturday with St. Pat’s Races, can’t miss that. And then toodle out to Silverton on Sunday  for one big recovery day. Andrew assured us on ABC this morning it’s going to be a fantastic weekend.

If you’re passing through Ivanhoe or Wilcannia then drop into the RSL in Ivanhoe or the Golf Club here in Wilcannia and buy tickets in their big Easter raffles.

And for a special treat, why not be at Miss Barrett’s coffee Shop here next Wednesday night 23rd.for a special “Tapis Tea”, bookings are essential though.

Looking ahead, the next weekend of course is Easter. crept up on us this year. The place to be for Easter if you are wandering is Bourke. Massive weekend on up there, hopefully I can give you more details next Monday.

Thanks to those who have sent brochures in to us and your snippits of what’s going on. We will try and get ours out and about as well.

In the meantime, keep in touch with everyone by listening to our fabulous radio stations, ABC Western Plains 657, Broken Hill 999, Wilcannia 1584, 2WEB Bourke 585, River Radio Wilcannia 103.1 FM. 2BH Broken Hill 567, and  Dry FM 107.7.

If you’re travelling on dirt roads this week beware of scattered thunderstorms, pretty safe around here it seems. Take caution in any case and stop by wherever you are and say Hi to the locals. Till next week, cheers  Bill Elliott  WCTA.
