Report on Wilcannia anniversary

Good morning to all,

My apologies this morning, I’m as far behind as you can see a white cow in a bog!  And so my format will be different as I need to do some ‘thank you’s’.

Our Weekend was above all expectations. And we as the Wilcannia Tourism Assoc. has to say a big thanks to all who made it a success. All the caravan couples who came to our little town and joined in. All the one time Wilcannia residents who made the journey back. Warrawong Caravan Park that was bursting at the seams! And of course our local team who were run off  their feet on the day.

I think the laugh of the day was the Broken Hill Central Football Club fielding a team in the Tug-a-war  to challenge our Boomerangs team, and beat them! Then the “Warrawong Caravan Association” challenged the winner, and beat them!!! I think rules and numbers may have played a part though. The overall result was a great boost for our little town, so thank you all so much.

I really haven’t had a chance to catch up with goings on this week, ‘cept to say that the Louth Field day was a success also, well done up there. And of course both our weekends extend a big thank you to the media coverage we have enjoyed. Outback radio 2WEB has given both days great coverage, and we here owe heaps to ABC Radio Broken Hill, air time and outside broadcast, and the Barrier Daily Truth, for their massive coverage.

Next week I’ll be more proactive I’m sure, but till then, you know the procedure, stop in the towns, have a yarn, say g’day, do someone a good turn. When’s the last time you did something for the first time?

Take care,  Bill Elliott,  Wilcannia Tourism.
