Muswellbrook Races, Quilpie Art Gallery, Broken Hill Agfair ...

Hello all,

I hope you all had an enjoyable and reflective Anzac Day, and if you spent it in one of our little outback towns I trust you were made feel welcome.

We don’t have anything out of the usual for the next week or so in our area, but if you’re heading to the Hunter valley, the Muswellbrook Races  are taking  place next Friday. There’s a great Photography Exhibition on at the Quilpie Art Gallery finishing on the 6th. May.

Back in Broken Hill, there’s a Karaoke Night at the Palace Hotel for the husbands (Just a thought!) and a Knit and Yarn session for the wives at the City Library.

Big Events coming up are, Agfair at the Hill on the 6th-7th. May, Every man and his dog will be there. Most of them will also be at the White Cliffs Music Festival on the 20th.- 22nd. May and if you’re around Dubbo at the end of the month, there’s the Comedy Boxing at the RSL Club on the 27th.

I’m going to duck into June now and remind you all to be in our little township for the June long weekend and enjoy our Field and Fun Day, celebrating our town being 150 years ‘young’.

White Cliffs Gymkhana, Anzac Day, radio stations for roads

A what a week! Things going on everywhere and my apologies to Topar Gymkhana, I missed you out but I'm sure it was a great success.

Another big Gymkhana weekend coming up at White Cliffs, so if you can make it journey up next Friday so you don't miss a thing .plenty of accommodation.

Of course the next day is Anzac Day, and whatever town you are in you will be welcome. Wilcannia has a dawn service at 6.15am with breakfast served afterwards. Then the 11 o'clock march and service followed by morning tea (please bring a plate if possible)

If you're looking for something to do during the week, then hop onto the NPWS website and find all the tours and sights they have to offer throughout the back country. Then if you want to tag along with friends or be pampered and sit back on a tour then you need to check out Tri State Safari Tours with Mick and Jo. 

If you are in Broken Hill drop into West Darling Arts in the Town Hall Facade, they have a number of interesting workshops coming up including one on using negative space.

You're pretty safe weather wise again this week, raining in Newcastle,(grand kids again). Listen to our radio stations and keep in touch, 1584, 999, 657, 585, 567, and FM's 101.3, 107.7.

White Cliffs Music Festival, Barwonnie Expo, Anabranch Picnic Day ...

Hello all,

This weather is just fantastic, if you’re not trying to keep stock alive. There doesn’t seem to be drop of rain in sight either so you can explore those dirt roads less travelled and find all the quirky places.

There’s a lot happening in the next week or two. Barwonnie Expo, if you’re in the Ivanhoe area. It’s on at the Mossgiel Hall on Wednesday, well worth seeing then  head back to Ivanhoe, meals at the RSL Club now on a Thursday and Sunday, stay with Barb, Wendy or the Pub, and go along to Loz’s Quilting and Needlework display on Saturday, they have catering and all for you. You ladies will really enjoy the day.

If you’re over Broken Hill way, you’re going to be flat out. Duck down to the 100th. Anabranch Picnic Day next Saturday, not to be missed. Then Sunday, everyone is going out to Peter and Patsy at the Silverton Hotel for the Country Music Round Up. Great day there and good music.

While you’re in The Hill, do a short trip with Tri-State Safaris, heaps to choose from and I personally know Mick and Jo will look after you. And of course there’s the RFDS Base, a real Flying Doctor Base in operation, inspections, audio/visual, and outback hospitality.

Moving on to the next weekend, you have to toodle out to White Cliffs for their Gymkhana on the 23rd.-24th. great little town and good people. If you’re exhausted after all that activity, then come back to our little town and relax at the Warrawong Caravan Park and let Ann and John spoil you.

Wild and Wacky Women, Poetry on a Plate, and more

Hello everyone,

Well a big congratulations to the organisers at White Cliffs, what a great night Saturday night, well done and a full house!

Quite a bit going on in April. You’ll have to be quick to catch the “Wild and Wacky Women” remember them? They are at the Pooncarie Hotel today, but don’t despair, you can catch them at the Clare Hall tomorrow if you are down that way.

“The King and I” is being shown at Nyngan next Thursday, great music and I think I have the poster. Will attach. Over that way, The Bourke Show is coming up on  the 16th. Remember the great time you have at Bourke?

Of course while you’re there, Hullie and Sarah are up and running again, “Poetry on a Plate”, they’ve got their river cruises going as well. Duck into the visitors centre and they’ll plan a week for you.

If you’re not going that way then head to Ivanhoe! Loz’s needle and quilting is happening on the 16th. But you need to be at the Barwonnie Ag. Expo at the Mosgiel Hall on the 13th. big day there, and Wendy has plenty of room to put your van in Ivanhoe for a few days, in fact if you settle in you can be part of The Pub Trivia on the 26th. and then would you believe, there’s a big furniture painting day there in Ivanhoe on the 30th.

Also around then, “The 100th. Anabranch Picnic and Sports  Day is happening down at the Annabranch on Saturday the 16th. if you’re near support them.
