Ivanhoe surplus equipment sale, lawnmower races, road information

Good morning everyone,
Well the weather has certainly decided to warm up so please remember to keep hydrated and travel with sufficient water and please check road conditions before travelling on our outback roads.
Now to area events; there's the sale of surplus equipment at the Ivanhoe Hospital on the 28th November with many a bargain to be found, a lot of gear to be auctioned.
Down to Wentworth now, the next day is the Rotary Club Markets, a great opportunity for a big family day out.
During all this period the National Parks are holding 'Walls of China Walks' almost daily, a break over Christmas and New Year and then through till Feb. Check their website for times.  Or if you contact the Buronga office on 0350218900 they will give you the full details.
Remember the Lawnmower races, you still have plenty of time to tune up your machine ready for Booborowie on the 12th of December.

Rain, Dance Concert, Buronga International Food Festival ...

Down in “the inside country” again and rain rain rain.  From all reports “elsewhere” is fine though.

Very successful auction sale at Wilcannia on Friday I am told, well done Central Darling Shire. And of course don’t forget the big Auction coming up at the Ivanhoe Health Service. That’s happening on the 28th. and heaps of good gear there.

Before that though, we have a Dance Concert on in Nyngan on the 19th./20th. at the Palias Theatre. Worth a look if you are anywhere about.

Two big events on the 21st. (next Saturday), the Buronga International Food Festival, and a Big Market Day at Ivanhoe, all are welcome.

National Parks have their Mungo Discovery Tours operating as well. A break over Christmas and New Year and then through till Feb. Check their website for times.

Twilight Street Markets, Remembrance Day Services, Really Big Market Day

Well last week’s weather was certainly ‘predictably unpredictable’. Some good falls in places, particularly in the ‘inside country’. So, if you are using dirt roads this week, and you’re not sure of conditions, Central Darling Shire road report phone number is 80 915155, which covers most of this outback area.

This week we have Remembrance Day Services at Wilcannia in Baker Park, and also at Menindee. So if you are near either town on Wednesday you are most welcome.

Friday 13th. (don’t worry!) there’s the Twilight Street Markets down at Dareton. Fun for all the family. And we have the big Shire Plant Auction here in Wilcannia also on the 13th. with 23 vehicles going under the hammer as well as heaps of other machinery.

The 14th. (Saturday) sees the Broken Hill Community markets from 8 AM to 1 PM if you are anywhere about ‘the Hill’.

The 21st. has heaps going on. The Wentworth Anglican Ladies Guild are having a “Christmas Cent Sale”. There’s an “International Food Festival” on at Buronga. And there’s a “Really Big Market Day” on at Ivanhoe. In fact it’s their Annual Day so if you can don’t miss out.

Moving on along, there’s the Sale of Surplus Equipment at the Ivanhoe Hospital on the 28th. A lot of gear to be auctioned. Down at Wentworth the next day is the Rotary Club Markets, big family day out.

Burra Country Music Festival, Sale of Surplus Machinery, Dareton Twilight Markets and more

Who would know? Thunder and lightning everywhere but not much moisture. And probably not much to come either.

It doesn’t matter where you are this week there’s something happening near you, as listed below.

Today the 2nd. We have the Calcutta for the Melbourne Cup at the Ivanhoe RSL Club tonight at 8 PM. Heaps more happening there too.

Tuesday the 3rd. (Melbourne Cup remember!), there’s Cup luncheons on at, Wilcannia Golf Club, 1 PM. All welcome. The Ivanhoe Pub, again all welcome. And the White Cliffs Pub, welcome again. And don’t forget the big Wentworth Cup Day Race Meeting. Fun for all. By the way, an evening meal at Miss Barrett’s Coffee Shop Wednesday night, BYO, start of great things to come!

Today 2nd. to 6th. “The Wentworth wearable Art Exhibition”, is on there during Cup week, you’ve got all week to see it.

Moving on, we have the Burra Country Music Festival at the end of the week, 6th. 7th. and 8th. Big event in the Burra calendar and a great show.

If you’re in that area, then stick around for the “Booborowie Lawn Mower Racing Day” (near Burra) It’s on the 12th. Bet you’ve never seen lawn mower races???.

You are all very welcome to join in the “Remembrance Day Celebrations” here at Wilcannia at Baker Park, and also at Menindee, obviously 11 AM on the 11th.

The 13th. sees 2 events: Sale of Surplus Machinery, at the Shire Depot, James St. Wilcannia. 23 vehicles, plus lots more. (need a back-up vehicle?)
